A lean young tom snuck around the pines, following the scent of vole. Batpaw decided to hunt right when he left the camp. It was one; easy going. And two; no mentor to hassle him. Actually, Batpaw was quite annoyed he didn't get a mentor yet. He was one of the eldest apprentices, without a mentor, without a place in the Clan.
Waste of my time...like I'll hunt for ShadowClan! I'll hunt for myself... he thought, eyes glittering as he spotted the vole a couple of fox lengths away.
Slowly, the apprentice crept up on the vole, keeping low to the ground as he went. He pounced; breaking the small animal's neck in the process.
Finally...a snack... Batpaw thought, licking his muzzle and dug into his fresh-kill...

Silverpaw walked around her new territory, sampling all of the new scents and surroundings. Dawncloud said that they would start her training soon. She sniffed, and smelled fresh blood and....Batpaw!
She looked around a tree and saw the apprentice digging into a vole. Creeping towards him, her ears layed back...Silverpaw leapt, crashing into him. "Hi batpaw!" she cried happily.

Batpaw's eyes widened and he snarled, springing backwards before the kittypet collided with him.
"Just my luck..." he muttered, dragging his piece of fresh-kill away from Silverpaw and towards him. He would definately not share his prey.

Silverpaw's ears twitched, "What's wrong?" She mewed. She sniffed him, "Are you sick? Do you need Flosspelt?" being new to the clan, Silverpaw didn't really know nay of the cats, or their persoanalities.

She's such an idiot... Batpaw thought dully.
"No...I'm not sick..." he grumbled "I'd just rather not be in the company of cats..." He was quite close to saying 'kittypet', but that was not entirely true. The thought of others around him...it just made his skin crawl.

"Why not?" Asked Silverpaw. She felt slightly offended, was he not wanting to be around her because of her heritage, "yah know i'm NOT a kittypet anymore Batpaw."

"Technically you are" Batpaw pointed out briskly "...for you see, I am a ShadowClan cat. I was born a ShadowClan cat, therefore I am one. You were born a kittypet, therefore you are one."
He paused, silently hating company more so now than at the Gathering. "...if you were a true ShadowClan cat; you would know that I don't like company...I hate other cats..."

"Why?" Silverpaw prompted, "if you're in a clan, then you basiclly live with the other cats, they are your family!"
"I joined this clan bravely!" She added, "Now everyone thinks of me as a clan cat! Just like Firestar from thunderclan!"

"...Tsk. Just because somebody was born into a Clan; doesn't mean they grow to mold into a social butterfly. Some cats are not social. Deal with it." he hissed, lashing his tail with boredom.
Batpaw's bored frown split into a small grin for a moment; then vanished quickly. "....is that so? ShadowClan hated Firestar, just so you know..."[/size]

Silverpaw giggled, "I know, but still...he was a kittypet, then a leader! It can happen to anyone!" She ran a paw over her fluffy gray coat, which was getting matted and harsh with the leaves.
"I saw that smile." She added, smirking.

Batpaw rolled his eyes. Why couldn't she just leave him alone?! Did he set himself up to be nagged to death by a boring she-cat apprentice?
"...Whatever makes you sleep at night" he retorted coldly "and I grinned at your stupidity..."
