((OKAY! So I finally got around to posting this thread! Sorry it took so long! So Lighty, you want Janna's name to be Silverpaw, right? And Gryph, I'm gonna make Batpaw a warrior! What do you think of these names: Batclaw, Batfang, Batwing, Batsoul, Batfur, Batsong... Any other ones you can think of?))
Rowanstar padded out of his den and into the camp clearing. Raising his head, he let out the familiar gathering call. As he waited for his cats to gather, he tried to find Icekit, Lionkit and Jaykit. Janna would have stayed in the apprentice the previous night, and Rowanstar also needed her for this meeting, though he didn't like the idea one bit. Rowanstar sighed, then continued once the majority of his cats had gathered. "Cats of ShadowClan. Today we honour four young cats who have reached the age that they must become apprentices. Would Icekit, Lionkit, Jaykit and Janna please join me? Oh, and Batpaw too" ~ Dawncloud padded out of the den at her brother's familiar call. She felt oddly excited. Today was the day that Janna recieved her apprentice name. Which meant that she would need a mentor. Dawncloud believe that, since she was one of the first cats to meet Janna, she would get to mentor her.

Icekit's ears pricked as he herd his name. "Wake up!" He yowled at is siblings. He ran out of his den, Jaykit and Lionkit following him sleepily. Icekit sat down exiedly in front of Rowanstar, his tail quivering.
Janna peeked out of the apprentice's den, Batpaw was still asleep. She walked out nervously. She spotted Dawncloud and darted over, "What did I do?" She mewed nervously.
((Shhhhhh, I'm sneaking on! e_e

Bloodclaw was just shouldering his way through the camp entrance as his leader's call echoed through the clearing. Walking swiftly to the fresh kill, he dropped his vole among the catches of the other warriors, then spun around to seat himself near the back of the croud. He felt a rare bubble of exitment inside him as he sat with his broad head pointed up at Rowanstar. Bloodclaw knew that today was the day he was going to get a new appprentice, and he found himself feeling slightly anxious about it. As he thought about what it would be like to be a mentor, Bloodclaw's eyes drifted over to the kittypet, Janna, and he felt a sneer creeping onto his lips. No part of him wanted to be her mentor. In fact, he didn't even think she deserved to be made an apprentice. She's not part of this clan, so she shouldn't be welcomed as one of us. muttered a loud, persistant voice in the back of Bloodclaw's mind. Shaking his head roughly to clear it, - although he completely agreed with the voice in his mind - and tried to fix his attention on his leader.
Patchpelt shuffled sleepily out of the warrior's den, his eyes slightly offset than their normal positions. His jaws stretched in a gaping yawn, revealing two rows of sharp sparkling teeth, then he shook his molting pelt and trotted up to sit beside his fellow warrior, Bloodclaw. "I hear you're getting your first apprentice today. You must be very eager." Patchpelt began, flicking the warrior's muscular shoulder in congratulations. Bloodclaw straightened up with pride at the older warrior's words. "I'm looking forward to it, yes." He replied, his whiskers twitching in anticipation. Then he leaned over to speak softly in Patchpelt's ear. "Between you and me, I wouldn't mind having little Jaykit as my apprentice. She seems to have a certain spunk about her, and I find her to be very intelligent." Bloodclaw nodded at his own statement. But Patchpelt didn't look very sure of the other warrior's words. "Be careful, Bloodclaw." He muttered wisely. "Apprentices can surprise you. Jaykit may be smart, but just be sure can handle whatever she throws at you. Don't count your blackbirds before they hatch." When he finished, Patchpelt twitched his whiskers and turned his gaze back upon Rowanstar. Bloodclaw, on the other hand, continued to stare at the older warrior. None of Pachpelt's words made any sense to him. Still, he dismissed his confusion and began to scan his gaze around the clearing, trying not to let his eyes fall on Janna. He searched for the shimmering pelt of Dawncloud, the pretty young she-cat he had grown to fancy.

"Who do you want for a mentor?" Lionkit asked icekit. Icekit snifffed, "Well that's easy, I want Rowanstar!" What about you?"
"I would like Patchpelt..." mewed Lionkit. "he's so...weird....Jaykit?"
Jaykit shrugged, "I dunno...Bloodlcaw is pretty strong..so maybe him." Jaykit giggled, "it would be funny if Bloodclaw got Janna. He absolutly LOATHS her!" Lionkit shuffledd his paws, "i think that Dawncloud will get Janna." "Why?" Asked Jaykit. "She found her first,' Lionkit mewed, "she really likes her."

Dawncloud chuckled at Janna's confusion. "Nothing," she mewed comfortingly, "Rowanstar has chosen today for your apprentice ceremony! It means you get your true Clan name!" She nudged Janna's shoulder. "Go join the others beside Rowanstar. And don't worry; he'll leave you be." She grinned, excited and proud of Janna. She looked over at the three kits, waiting for Rowanstar to begin the ceremony. Her gaze also fell on the rugged, tabby shoulders of Bloodclaw sitting beside a very bedraggled looking Patchpelt. Dawncloud remembered very clearly when Rowanstar had gotten Bloodclaw as his apprentice. No wonder Bloodclaw is so headstrong, she thought in slight amusement. Despite his hot-headedness and arrogance, Dawncloud rather fancied the strudy tom.

((ooc: Um, Batpaw hasn't even trained. I'd like him to have a mentor firstly, Rowan. Proper way. He ain't ready.))
Batpaw padded slowly out of the apprentices' den, grumbling something about 'just got back' and 'tired'.
He looked around, eyes blinking at the sunlight.
Urgh...what do they want now?! I was napping...last time I go to a Gathering... he thought, settling himself beside the three kits and positioning himself away from Janna. It was unnatural for that kittypet to still be here. But...he wouldn't do anything about it; he was too lazy.

Janna looked at Dawncloud. 'True clan name? wow' she thought. She trotted up to the three kits and sat down next to the only female.
"hi,' She whispered, "I'm Jaykit." She mewed.
"Janna." She replied.
"Not for long!" Mewed Jaykit happily, "And don't mind my brothers," She mewed. Icekit and Lionkit were glaring at Janna, "They are just crazy."

((Ah! Right-o, Gryph! Hmm... Don't have too many ShadowClan warroirs though... I kinda used 'em all when I decided who was gonna mentor whom. Hmmm... Anyone wanna make anooother ShadowClan warrior? *puppy dog eyes*))
Rowanstar resisted the urge to glare at Janna. Wanting to leave her till last, he turned his head to Icekit, and grinned down at the eager tom. He bowed his head to the kit. "Icekit," he began, "You have reached your sixth moon. The time has come for you to earn your rank and name as an apprentice. You have proved that your strength and wits will aid you when you become a warrior. Icekit, from this day forward, you will be known as Icepaw." Rowanstar paused to let the congratulations and mews die down. "I shall be your mentor. Bloodclaw was my last apprentice, and he is now one of my top warriors." He glanced over at Dawncloud, as if to say 'Unlike you, sister.' "I take you now as my apprentice." He touched his nose to the top of Icepaw's head, then moved on to Lionkit. "Lionkit, like your brother, you have reached your sixth moon. Your eagerness and firey spirit well make you a good warrior. Lionkit, from this day forward, you will be known as Lionpaw. Patcheplt," his eys flicked over to the molting warrior, "will be your mentor. He, too, has become a great warrior, and will pass on his knowledge to you." Moving on to Jaykit, he tried to ignore the impatient glare Dawncloud was giving him. She's too attatched to the kittypet, he thought in distain. Gazing down at Jaykit, he began with the formal words once again. "Jaykit, your kind nature and pure ShadowClan heart will one day make you a successful warrior. Jaykit, from this day forward, you will be known as Jaypaw. Bloodclaw will be your mentor. He was once my apprentice and will pass on what I taught him to you." He touched her head, just like he had down with her brothers. Finally, Janna sat befpre him. Grimacing and eyes narrowing, he bgean, "Janna. You have joined ShadowClan, leaving behind your kittypet life. I must know that your heart is with ShadowClan, and no where else." Part of him hoped she'd decline his offer and run back to her warm Twoleg nest. But he knew Janna had the spirit of a true warrior. He waited for her answer.

Icepaw, Lionpaw, and Jaypaw all smiled as they got their new names and mentors.
Janna looked at the leader, her eyes hard, "Me heart IS with Shadowclan...and no where else." She mewed sternly.

((ooc: ^^'))
Batpaw, personally, didn't think that was a good enough statement. Another cat with pride to their heads would yowl in protest; 'This is ShadowClan! The best Clan in the forest! Mere words cannot prove your loyalty, especially those ones!' But...he didn't care. His opinion ment little.
Guess my training is blown off again...why bother making me an apprentice? he pondered.

Rowanstar stared evenly at Janna, meeting her hard gaze. He saw Batpaw's expression change, knowing that the apprentice dissaproved of Janna's statement. But Rowanstar knew he had to accept her as part of his Clan, and let out a defeated sigh. He bowed his head, gritting his teeth against the growl rising in his throat. "Very well, Janna," he meowed, "I welcome you now into ShadowClan, a loyal apprentice. From this day forward, you will be known as Silverpaw. Your mentor, until you recieve your warrior name, will be Dawncloud. She was the first cat to welcome you as a Clanmate, and I trust that she will teach you in the ways of a ShadowClan warrior." Even though she's hardly one herself, he tought scathingly. ~ Dawncloud let out a purr of satisfaction. She lept to her paws and padded up to Janna, bowing her light brown tabby head to the new apprentices. She gently touched her nose to Janna, or rather Silverpaw now, as the tradition indicated. She blinked at Silverpaw and grinned with pride. "Well done, Silverpaw," she mewed.

Janna....Silverpaw smiled and toucjed noses with Dawncloud. Her gray pelt, ruffled with exitment, flattened as she looked at her new mentor. She was finally a true clan cat!

Bloodclaw drew himself up to his fullest height when he heard his name called. Satisfaction flickered in the sturdy warrior's eyes. He was glad that Jaypaw was his apprenice. Smiling proudly, he heaved himself to his feet and walked up to the young she-cat. "Congratulations," Bloodlcaw muttered as he brought his broad head down to touch noses with his new apprentice.
Patchpelt grinned and walked over to his new apprentice. Pride bubbled inside him as the two of them touched noses. "Well done, Lionpaw." Patchpelt mewed, his scratchy voice filled with pride. "You will be a wonderful warrior one day. With the proper training that is." Amusement flickered in his eyes.

Jaypaw smiled at her new mentor and touched her nose to his, "Thank you Bloodclaw.' She mewed happily.
Lionpaw grinned, "And you'll be the one to supply me with it!" he said cheerfully.

Rowanstar took one last scathing look at Silverpaw and Dawncloud, then padded over to Icepaw. He grinned with pride. "Well done, Icepaw," he meowed, "You will make a good apprentice, and one day, a great warrior. ShadowClan is lucky to have you." He bent his tabby head down to touch his nose to Icepaw's.
